about

Written the day after my best friend passed away, Paul's Song is a tribute to his life and our friendship, depicting our history together and what he meant to his community.

lyrics

A path with heart and courageous disposition
Lead through life’s perils with his promises
A stubborn will and a stoic demeanor
Like-minded philosopher community leader

But who was he to you
The one man who could follow-through

We both knew someday this would come
But he gave his word that our journey had just begun

A reason, a season, a lifetime or the next
I can finally can understand what it is he meant
In the ways that he worked through every little quirk
I’ll take him as he is in a past tense, present sense

Written in the crease of my hand said a palm reader
You’ll travel with a stranger to the west coast region
Form a bond built on understanding
Although at times it could be so demanding

But since then I reflect on what we shared
I choke up cause I think that it’s come to an end

But I pick up myself take a good look around
See all the faces of the lives that he touched
Then I’m suddenly found

A reason, a season, a lifetime or the next
I can finally understand what it is he meant
In the ways that he worked through every little quirk
I’ll take him as he is

Through the life that he lived
He gave all that he had to give
For truth and what is fair
If you don’t like it then he didn’t care
In a past tense and present sense

I said to my friend Paul when you’re gone and it’s all over
How will I get along is it something I’ll get over
What’s to remain the same and what is gonna change
How will I get along and who now will be my anchor

And this is what he said
My love, it has no end

Whenever you need me I’ll be there
I’ll be in between the middle of the trees and the leaves
When you look up there

A reason, a season, a lifetime or the next
I finally can understand what it is he meant
In the ways that he worked through every little quirk
I’ll take him as he is in a past tense, present sense
